Leavitt's snarky response to HuffPost 'journalist' turns into 'wild' article

A HuffPost journalist was apparently so offended by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's text response to his question that he wrote an article about it.

Leavitt responded to S.V. Dáte's condescending question via text about who chose Budapest as the site for a meeting between Ukraine and Russia by saying, "Your mom did."

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung chimed in, saying just "your mom."

When Dáte asked if they thought that response was "funny," Leavitt let him have it with both barrels.

"Left-wing hack"

“It’s funny to me that you actually consider yourself a journal [sic]," she said. "You are a far left hack who nobody takes seriously, including your colleagues in the media, they just don’t tell you that to your face. Stop texting me your disingenuous, biased, and bullshit questions.”

After Dáte published the article, titled "White House gives wild response to a simple question asked by HuffPost reporter," Leavitt further responded through X.

"S.V. Dáte of the Huffington Post is not a journalist interested in the facts. He is a left-wing hack who has consistently attacked President Trump for years and constantly bombards my phone with Democrat talking points," she said.

Indeed, Fox News confirmed that Dáte has espoused consistently anti-Trump views and posted in 2023, "As a journalist, it's not my job to tell you who to vote for. As a journalist, it IS my job to warn you that if we vote Donald Trump back into office, it may be the last vote we ever cast."

"Devastated and "fearful"

He ended his article with ridicule, writing, "HuffPost is devastated, and is fearful of asking any more questions, let alone escalating with 'I’m rubber, you’re glue,' or some such."

You can see why Leavitt and Cheung may have responded how they did, given Dáte's anti-Trump posture and statements.

Why would they take his question seriously?

It's as Leavitt said in her X post about the article, "Activists who masquerade as real reporters do a disservice to the profession."

If he thought his article would make Leavitt look dumb, it actually did the opposite and exposed him as the hack he is. Full self-destruct mode like the rest of his party.

Nice try, though.
