Left-wing media attempts to shield Joe Biden by blaming Hunter for phone calls

According to Fox News, former Hunter Biden business associate told members of the House Oversight Committee on Monday that Joe Biden spoke to his son's business associates via speaker phone at least 20 times.

Those revelations Democrat-aligned media outlets scrambling to put blame on Hunter in order to protect his father.

Hunter Biden said to selling "an illusion" of access to his father

One example came in the form of a New York Times article which insisted Archer testified that Hunter Biden was selling "the illusion" of access to his father.

"Republicans have claimed repeatedly — and so far without proof — that the investigations implicate the president in corruption and crimes," Times contributor Luke Broadwater wrote on Tuesday.

That take was met with derision from conservatives online, including Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York.

"Democrats want to clear up any confusion," York tweeted. "Hunter Biden was not, repeat not, selling access to his father the vice president. He was selling the *illusion* of access to his father the vice president."

Joe Biden has long denied involvement with his son's business activities

What's more, Archer's testimony flies in the face of repeated declarations from the president that he was never involved with his son's business activities.

Biden told reporters while campaigning in 2019, "I have never discussed with my son or my brother or anyone else anything to do with their business."

Committee chairman: "Why did Joe Biden lie?"

He reiterated that message during a Democratic presidential debate, telling CNN host Anderson Cooper, "I never discussed a single thing with my son about anything having to do with Ukraine."

Fox News quoted a statement from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer that read, "Why did Joe Biden lie to the American people about his family’s business dealings and his involvement? It begs the question what else he is hiding from the American people."
