Leftist Congressman facing censure over comments made at pro-Palestinian conference
A member of the so-called Squad is facing censure for remarks that she recently made at a pro-Palestinian conference.
Breitbart News reports that U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) is the one who is leading the censure charge against U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
As we will see, it is not the first time that we have been down this road with Tlaib.
Rep. Buddy Carter Moves to Censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib
Her statements lauding terrorism and taking part in a pro-Hamas event are outrageous. Listen to the vitriol. pic.twitter.com/rJIlV4sqr0

Here's what happened:
Tlaib made her controversial remarks at a recently held People’s Conference for Palestine in Detroit, Michigan.
There, she, in part, said:
Outside of the decaying halls of the empire in Washington, D.C., we are winning. They are scared. They send me videos and messages of people protesting in front of their district offices, people showing up at their town halls, and I was like, ‘We’re not all related.’ Those are fellow Americans. Maybe you should meet with them and listen.
These comments and others, suffice it to say, have been criticized widely.
Carter introduced a censure resolution against Tlaib, accusing her of "vilifying her colleagues, endangering the lives of Jewish people, and celebrating terrorism."
The resolution, in part, states:
Representative Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly displayed conduct entirely unbecoming of a member of the House of Representatives by calling for the destruction of the state of Israel and by dangerously promoting terrorism and extremism, while Israeli and American hostages remain in terrorist captivity.
Background
There is a good chance that the U.S. House of Representatives will vote to censure Tlaib. The thing is, though, that it would not be the first time that it has happened, and, chances are, it will not be the last.
"House lawmakers on Tuesday censured Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the sole Palestinian American in Congress, over her remarks and actions in response to the Israel-Hamas war," Back in November 2023, NBC News reported.
It added, "The censure resolution, authored by Rep. Rich McCormick (RG-A), passed 234 to 188, with 22 Democrats voting for it and four Republicans opposing the measure. A censure vote only requires a simple majority to pass."
This particular censure criticized Tlaib for "promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel."
We'll have to see whether the latest censure of Tlaib will pass the House.
