Actor Leonardo DiCaprio testified in a case involving allegations of funding that helped support the presidential campaign of former President Barack Obama.

The trial of rapper Pras Michel also includes the Chinese government and Malaysian financier Jho Low.

The issue

“'It was a casual conversation about what party he was in support of,' DiCaprio said, telling jurors that Low said he planned on giving a significant donation' to the Democratic Party that was 'somewhere to the tune of $20-30 million,'” Red State stated.

"DiCaprio knew Low because he had partied with him and he helped finance one of his films," it added.

The connection

"DiCaprio is one of several prominent figures linked to Low, a fugitive who is facing separate federal criminal charges for allegedly embezzling $4.5 billion from Malaysia's 1MDB sovereign wealth fund," Reuters reported.

"The financier, who was known to pay Hollywood celebrities to party with him, supported DiCaprio's charitable foundation and helped fund 'The Wolf of Wall Street,' the 2013 movie in which DiCaprio starred and was nominated for an Oscar," it added.

"Prosecutors have claimed that Michel received over $20 million from foreign accounts, which were then passed off to 20 'straw donors from June to November 2012," according to the Post Millennial.

"These donors were believed to have made the contributions to the Obama campaign in their names so that money could not be tracked back to Low," it noted.

The artist is now facing 11 criminal counts involving the influence of the Obama and Trump administrations.

Low has also been accused of seeking to interfere with Trump's investigation into him.

The high-profile case involving DiCaprio's testimony and the Obama administration has received little attention despite the significant implications. Instead, the mainstream media has been focused on former President Donald Trump's indictment in Manhattan involving the unprecedented actions against a former president while former President Barack Obama continues to remain a media favorite.
