Bringing some levity to the holiday hustle and bustle, 15-year-old Levi McConaughey, son of actor Matthew McConaughey, posted an amusing anecdote to social media referencing an incident from his father's own youth that involved nudity, drums, and an arrest, as Hola! explains.

Taking to Instagram, the young man told followers that he was attempting to wrap up his holiday shopping, but noted that his father could sometimes prove difficult to cross off the list.

Levi lets loose

“But I think I found something he might like,” Levi declared.

The actor's son then made his way into a Guitar Center store, where he eventually spotted a bongo, mischievously saying, “We all know my dad loves a good bongo.”

Those who have read Matthew McConaughey's memoir, Greenlights will have understood that remark as a reference to a 1999 incident in which the actor was arrested at home in rather spectacular – and naked – fashion.

Wild night in Austin

After a noise complaint had been lodged by a neighbor, law enforcement officers entered the premises to find the film star prancing naked, and tapping on bongo drums, with marijuana and related paraphernalia on hand.

It was then that McConaughey reportedly resisted arrest and was carted off to the hoosegow, eventually receiving a fine for the noise violation.

According to the account in his book, McConaughey had watched a football game on Saturday, and continued to party hearty all night and through until Sunday night without any sleep whatsoever, and once he finally began to mellow out, he stepped out of his clothes, smoked, and banged his bongos while enjoying some music.

All's well that ends well

“What I didn't know was that while I was banging away in my bliss, two Austin policemen also thought it was time to barge into my house unannounced, wrestle me to the ground with nightsticks, handcuff me, and pin me to the floor,” he wrote.

After a struggle fueled by his state of intoxication, McConaughey was led by police, naked, through the street, eventually agreeing to don a pair of pants offered by jail personnel upon his arrival.

Despite the jarring scenes that ensued that night, McConaughey's attorney ultimately succeeded in having the more serious charges lodged against him dismissed in exchange for a sound ordinance violation that was eventually expunged.

Domestic tranquility takes hold

Perhaps it is the subsequent familial stability and bliss the McConaughey clan has enjoyed in recent years that makes such jocular reminiscences possible, with the Daily Mail reporting that the actor recently discussed his successful marriage to wife Camila Alves and their happy home life.

Speaking of his relationship with Alves, the actor stated, “We have a love that we never question.”

Now in the process of raising three children – one of whom appears to be forging a public presence of his very own – it appears that McConaughey has found real fulfillment in life, though it remains an open question whether bongos and naked dancing are still part of the equation.
