Americans luckily avoided another terrible Super Bowl halftime show next year after reports surfaced this week that one controversial figure in the running for the concert has been dropped from consideration.

According to Breitbart, rapper and songwriter Lizzo is no longer in the running for whoever the NFL chooses to put on its next Super Bowl halftime show.

Lizzo, once a hero to the left, has quickly dropped in popularity due to serious allegations from some of her staffers who say she engaged in various forms of abuse and harrassment in the workplace.

Sources said that due to the ongoing controversy and the public's response, the NFL has already decided to remove her from the list of potential performers.

Talks are "dead"

The bombshell report came via sources who indicated that because of the public's outrage at the allegations Lizzo faces, there's no chance she's performing for the NFL anytime soon, if ever.

"Talks of Lizzo being a part of the Halftime festivities, or performing the National Anthem, are dead now that she is surrounded by scandal," the Daily Mail source reportedly said, according to Breitbart.

Breitbart noted:

Lizzo has been sued by three former tour dancers who allege the pop star engaged in abusive behavior toward them, including forcing them to attend a strip club show and touch some of the performers. One dancer also alleged that Lizzo, who has championed her own obesity as beautiful and empowering, fat-shamed her after she gained weight.

Social media users reacted quickly to the news, with many turned off by the fact that she was even in the running to perform in the first place.

Social media reaction

"Shame she was even considered for the half time show. It used to be that half time was entertaining, fun and something you could show your children," one X user wrote.

That same concern echoed throughout other posts, with many questioning why Super Bowl halftime shows have become racier over the years.

"Now maybe @NFL will pick someone that can sing with close on instead of the half naked non family freek shows they've been doing the last 15 years or so," one X user wrote.

Only time will tell who the NFL ultimately chooses, but literally anyone, no matter how bad they are, will be an upgrade from Lizzo.
