Long Island, New York, is ramping up security measures as Zohran Mamdani gets ready to take office as New York City's next mayor.

Fox News reports that the move is in response to concerns about Mamdani's criminal justice policies, which some are referring to as "pro-criminal."

Long Island is one part of New York that is attempting to preempt the expected rise in lawlessness.

Details of the "surveillance border."

It would appear that, essentially, Long Island is creating something of a border wall with New York City.

Fox reports:

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Republican whose county neighbors New York City, said that he is directing authorities to install cameras and security technology along the border with the city in light of the election of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

That's not all.

Fox adds, "He also stated that the county is hiring new police officers in addition to its existing force and the 100 police cadets currently enrolled in the Nassau County Police Academy."

The question is whether it will be enough.

Mamdani "talks like he's pro-criminal."

For those unfamiliar with Blakeman, the New York Post reports that he is "a friend of President Trump who won re-election as executive earlier this month, [running] on pro-law and order policies . . ." He also, according to the outlet, "entered into an agreement to coordinate with federal immigration officials . . ."

Blakeman released a statement, saying:

We are doing everything necessary to make sure that Nassau County is safe. We are installing technology along the border of New York City that will read license plates, that will have facial recognition, that will have video cameras. Our cops are doing a great job, and I'm going to continue to give them the personnel and the resources, technology and equipment and training that will now allow them to combat any situation that would jeopardize the security and safety of our communities here in Nassau County,

Blakeman went on to take aim at Mamdani.

He referred to the mayor-elect as someone who "talks like he's pro-criminal, not pro-victim."

We will have to see whether or not these additional safety measures are enough.
