Laura Loomer threatens lawsuit after Bill Maher suggests she's having an affair with Trump
Former President Donald Trump is catching heat from both the left and right over his apparent association with Laura Loomer, a loyal supporter and controversial right-wing independent investigative journalist who sometimes posts wild conspiracy theories.
Loomer is now threatening to sue liberal HBO host Bill Maher after he speculatively claimed that Trump was scandalously cheating on former first lady Melania Trump with the supportive reporter, TheWrap reported.
Maher's comments come amid a recent barrage from all sides of negative commentary about the apparent link between Trump and Loomer, in light of some of her more controversial and purportedly racist musings.
Maher alleges affair between Trump and Loomer
On Friday's episode of "Real Time," Maher took a moment to reference Loomer's theory about an "arranged relationship" between pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL superstar Travis Kelce that is supposedly intended to influence voters in the 2024 election.
"I think maybe Laura Loomer is in an arranged relationship to affect the election because she's very close to Trump," Maher said. "She's 31, looks like his type ..."
"We did an editorial here a few years ago ... It was basically, 'Who is Trump f--king.' Because I said, you know, it’s not nobody. He’s been a dog for too long. And it’s not Melania," the liberal comedian added. "I think we may have our answer this week. I think it might be Laura Loomer -- I am just saying."
I can't believe this is actually happening.
Bill Maher is flipping the script on @LauraLoomer, claiming she is in an “arranged relationship” with Donald Trump.
But then he took it even further, suggesting Loomer is doing you know what with Trump.

Loomer threatens defamation lawsuit
In response to the accusatory video clip, Loomer posted on her X account, "I should sue Bill Maher @billmaher for Defamation. This is beyond the pale and it’s a complete and blatant lie."
"I have never in my life seen such a coordinated attack by the mainstream Media, the White House and leftist personalities to target a private citizen and investigative journalist simply because I flew on a plane and I support Donald Trump," she continued. "This is unacceptable. And it’s a full blown LIE and incredibly disrespectful to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump."
"It’s very obvious some type of memo went out because the reaction to what I said is completely overblown and it’s a full blown character assassination campaign," Loomer added. "This is a full blown lie from @billmaher, and he is maliciously and deliberately defaming me."
Trump campaign distance themselves from Loomer
Though Loomer has been widely despised for some time over her controversial claims, she recently came under concerted attack for purportedly racist remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris' half-Indian heritage, among other things, and those attacks were aimed at former President Trump as well amid reports that Loomer has been advising his campaign and flew with him to the debate on Tuesday.
The Trump campaign has sought to put distance between itself and Loomer and minimized the claims that she is some sort of senior adviser by asserting that she is merely a loyal supporter of the former president.
Trump himself posted on Truth Social on Friday, "Laura Loomer doesn’t work for the Campaign. She’s a private citizen and longtime supporter. I disagree with the statements she made but, like the many millions of people who support me, she is tired of watching the Radical Left Marxists and Fascists violently attack and smear me, even to the point of doing anything to stop their Political Opponent, ME!"
The former president has not responded to the allegations of infidelity from Maher and others, but frequently mentions his deep and abiding love for his beautiful wife and former first lady.
