MAGA responds to Democrats' plan to stop Trump from taking office
Supporters of President-Elect Donald Trump are outraged following the news that Democrats have a "secret" plan to stop Trump from taking office.
This is according to a new report from the Daily Mail.
"Donald Trump's most ardent supporters are unleashing fury after a secret Democrat plan to block the president-elect from taking office was exposed," the outlet reports.
First, we will catch you up to speed on the "secret" plan, then we will look at the response from Trump's people.
The "secret" plan to stop Trump
The plan was made public in a piece that The Hill published. It can be read in its entirety here. To make a long story short, the Democrats are still trying to capitalize on the Capitol protest of Jan. 6, 2021.
The Hill's op-ed reads:
The Constitution provides that an oath-breaking insurrectionist is ineligible to be president. This is the plain wording of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. “No person shall … hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.” This disability can be removed by a two-thirds vote in each House.
The authors went on to argue that "The evidence of Donald Trump’s engaging in such insurrection is overwhelming."
Then, after supporting their contention that Trump is a proven "insurrectionist," the authors conclude that members of Congress must take action now to stop Trump.
They wrote:
Democrats need to take a stand against Electoral College votes for a person disqualified by the Constitution from holding office unless and until this disability is removed. No less is required by their oath to support and defend the Constitution.
MAGA responds
Suffice it to say that Trump's supporters are not too happy about all of this.
Trump's son Eric Trump put it this way: "You people are sick."
Similarly, Elon Musk wrote: "Crazy idea. Such a crazy thing for them to say. Legacy media is just the propaganda arm of the radical left."
Many others put forth similar statements.
The good news in all of this is that even if the Democrats were to try such a thing it would be almost certain to fail, for it would require a two-thirds vote in both the Republican-controlled House and Senate. Nonetheless, this is something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
