Majority of Americans want Sec. Blinken impeached over Hunter Biden laptop scandal

Don't be surprised if Secretary of State Antony Blinken announces his resignation in the near future.

According to Breitbart, he's currently embroiled in a scandal involving his alleged role in helping construct the infamous letter from at least 50 current and former intelligence experts who claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation.

And apparently, a majority of Americans want to see him out of office as a result.

New polling numbers revealed this week indicated that Americans are ready to see Blinken impeached for his role in the attempt to cover for then-candidate Joe Biden.

The numbers

It wasn't a small majority that believes Blinken should be impeached, either. A Rasmussen Reports poll published on Tuesday revealed that 60% of Americans believe he should face impeachment.

Breitbart noted:

The poll is in reference to a congressional testimony that suggested Blinken — then a Joe Biden campaign adviser — reached out to a former CIA official and “set in motion” the false statement by 51 former intelligence officers to undermining the Post’s story as “Russian disinformation.”

Since reports emerged that strongly pointed to Blinken's involvement in making the intelligence memo a thing that was widely circulated by the media and taken at its word, he is now denying any involvement.

During a recent interview with Fox News' Benjamin Hall, Blinken stressed that the memo "wasn’t my idea, didn’t ask for it, didn’t solicit it." However, he went on to dodge the issue completely after Hall asked him if he would admit that the laptop wasn't "Russian disinformation."

"Again, from my perspective, I’m not engaging in politics," Blinken said.

New developments

Republicans are using their power to get to the bottom of the issue, as Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) demanded Blinken turn over records related to his testimony about the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

Breitbart explained:

During an interview on December 22, 2020, Blinken told Senate investigators he had not texted or emailed Hunter Biden. But emails contained on Hunter Biden’s laptop and from recent reports revealed Blinken did in fact email Hunter Biden on at least two occasions.

The last thing the Biden administration needs is a high-level official being impeached or resigning in disgrace, but it looks more plausible than ever before, and the investigation has only just begun.
