Mamdani campaign claims it doesn't support eliminating misdemeanor crimes

Radical democratic socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has made a number of silly promises and claims during his campaign, all of which are disgustingly socialist in nature.

However, according to the New York Post, Mamdani's campaign seemed quick to distance itself from the national Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) platform due to their recent demand that all misdemeanor crimes should be dismissed.

The platform, in 2021, adopted the idea that all criminal repercussions for all misdemeanor crimes should be wiped out.

Mamdani, who was endorsed by the New York City chapter of the DSA, has taken fire recently over the idea that he stands for such an asinine idea, arguing that the New York City chapter isn't always in line with the national version of the platform and its ideas.

What's happening?

Mamdani, despite support from within his party, has taken fire since it was revealed that his party wants to eliminate virtually all consequences for misdemeanor crimes.

The Post noted:

A spokesperson for Mamdani, a DSA member and the keynote speaker at the left-wing group’s 2023 convention, insisted that the national organization endorses different policies than the local New York City chapter, which has endorsed the Democratic nominee for mayor.

The revelation was reported on Saturday, and the Post ran a story pointing it out. It said that Mamdani's campaign didn't respond with a comment at that time.

But as pressure mounted and questions were raised, even by prominent Democrats, his campaign clearly decided to take a step back from the DSA platform and attempt to put distance between them.

The Post noted:

A spokesperson said Tuesday that, if elected, whoever Mamdani taps to run the NYPD would continue to enforce misdemeanor crimes — but refused to go on the record.

Not surprisingly, the Mamdani spokesperson stopped short of disavowing the DSA's call to eliminate misdeameanor crimes, as it presumably didn't want to upset the powers that be in that realm.

Social media responds

Users across social media reacted to the news of the DSA's fantasy about eliminating such crimes.

"Lord almighty, they are about to get what they fantasize about," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "That should work out well since the majority of big Marxist Democrat ran cities have changed their felony crimes to misdemeanors, get ready for more videos of robberies, retail theft and many other crimes being on the internet as lawlessness becomes democrats new normal."

Only time will tell if Mamdani speaks out on the issue, and it looks like he'll be forced to do that sooner than later.
