According to Breitbart, a New Hampshire man told the FBI that he threatened to assassinate Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

A press release put out by the Department of Justice (DOJ) explained that 30-year-old Tyler Anderson has been "charged with transmitting in interstate commerce a threat to injure the person of another."

Man allegedly threatened "to kill everyone who attends"

The documents goes on to explain that "Anderson received a text message from the victim’s campaign notifying him of a political event in Portsmouth, New Hampshire."

The defendant is alleged to have responded with a message of his own that stated, "Great, another opportunity for me to blow his brains out!"

Anderson allegedly went on to threaten that he was planning "to kill everyone who attends and then f--k their corpses."

Should he be found guilty, Anderson faces up to five years behind bars and an additional three years of supervised release along with a fine of $250,000.

Campaign is "grateful to law enforcement for their swiftness and professionalism"

Breitbart noted that although the DOJ press release did not specify which candidate Anderson allegedly threatened, Ramaswamy was the only one holding an event during the time frame in question.

Tricia McLaughlin serves as a spokeswoman for Ramaswamy's campaign, and she confirmed in an email to NBC 10 Boston that he was the one targeted.

"Unfortunately it is true," McLaughlin was quoted as saying. "We are grateful to law enforcement for their swiftness and professionalism in handling this matter and pray for the safety of all Americans."

NBC 10 Boston also reported that a search of Anderson's residence turned up his phone as well as an undisclosed number of firearms.

Ramaswamy says America is "going through our version of adolescence"

On Monday, Ramaswamy posted a video of himself campaigning in New Hampshire on the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

He declared in the post that "it takes someone whose best days are still yet ahead in life to see a nation whose best days are still yet ahead of itself."

"We’re really just a little young – going through our version of adolescence, figuring out who we’re going to be when we grow up," the candidate added.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
