Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for Biden’s impeachment over classified documents

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said President Joe Biden should face impeachment after the discovery of classified documents involving Iran and Ukraine from between 2013-2016.

Greene argued that Biden’s concerns were far more serious than claims regarding former President Trump’s classified documents found during an FBI raid in Mar-a-Lago.

The statement

“This is a very serious situation. Vice presidents cannot declassify documents. And the fact that Joe Biden is in possession of classified documents when he was vice president, signals we need to have a serious investigation into this,” Greene told C-SPAN.

“There is a true two tier justice system stemming from the department of justice in the way President Trump has been treated — who is allowed to classify and declassify documents. Presidents can do that,” she said. “I’ll echo again, impeach Biden.”

The documents

“The attorneys found the documents in a locked closet while preparing to vacate office space at the center, which the president used from mid-2017 until he began the 2020 campaign,” Fox News reported.

“The National Archives were notified of the finding and took possession of the documents on Nov. 3, 2022, Sauber said,” the report added.

“The documents were not the subject of any previous request or inquiry by the Archives,” Sauber said in a statement. “Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have cooperated with he Archives and the Department of Justice in process to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives.”

Republicans have more to investigate

Taylor Greene is not alone in her concerns about Biden’s recently-discovered classified documents.

With the GOP now leading in the House, the party may seek to further investigate the matter as it launches a series of efforts over the past two years of the Biden administration’s efforts.

The investigation will add to multiple areas in progress, including the Hunter Biden scandal, the border crisis and the origins of COVID-19.
