Fox News Digital has learned that former first lady Melania Trump celebrated Christmas with her ailing mother.

A source with close ties to the former first lady informed Fox News Digital earlier this week that she abstained from attending the Trump family Christmas celebration at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, in order to attend to her ailing mother, as the news outlet reported.

"Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family," a source close to Melania Trump told Fox News Digital. "It should be no surprise that she spent this Christmas with her ailing mother."

Barron, the son of former President Donald Trump and Melania, was present at the Christmas dinner at Mar-a-Lago alongside his father and other family members.

Earlier Reports

Earlier this year, in an interview with Fox News Digital, the former first lady expressed her unwavering support for her husband's presidential campaign, stating that she eagerly anticipates "restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength" during a potential second term.

She stated that serving as first lady once more would be a "privilege," she told Fox News Digital.

Trump stated that she would continue to prioritize initiatives centered on the development and well-being of children in 2024 if she were to "have the honor" of serving as first lady once more. This would include providing them with the "support and resources they need to reach their full potential."

At present, former President Trump maintains an overwhelming lead in the Republican primary field.

As part of her "Be Best" initiative, Melania Trump hosted virtual roundtables on foster care and worked to strengthen the child welfare system during her tenure as first lady.

She collaborated with congressional representatives on legislation that successfully obtained funding for grants intended to assist young adults and adolescents currently or formerly in foster care in financing their education, training, or vocational programs.

In December 2020, the legislation was ultimately endorsed by President Trump at that time.

Since Leaving the White House

Since departing from the White House, the former first lady has also crafted Non-Fungible Tokens in limited edition to raise funds for her projects.

Her "Fostering the Future" initiative, which seeks to provide educational opportunities and scholarships for children in the foster care community, received a portion of the proceeds.

In the interim, during a naturalization ceremony in the historic National Archives Rotunda earlier this month, Melania Trump educated new American citizens on the "obligation" of citizenship and the significance of "guarding our freedom"

Preceding the sworn-in of 25 individuals from 25 countries as new citizens of the United States were the Constitution and other founding documents.
