Attack Details
A great deal of alarm was caused by the explosion that took place in the porte cochère, which is located outside of the luxury hotel.
The incident, which was reported as "very large fireworks and/or a bomb" stowed in the truck's bed, looks to have been purposeful when viewed through the lens of the Las Vegas police department.
The Cybertruck's one-of-a-kind design allowed it to endure just minimal damage to the hotel itself, despite the fact that the explosion was quite severe.
From Other Family
Middle son Eric Trump of Donald Trump also spoke up, expanding on the specifics.
"Earlier today, a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas," Eric shared on social media.
"The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response and professionalism."
An Outsider's Take
Tesla CEO Elon Musk later claimed credit for the Cybertruck's durability and said the vehicle's design had reduced its damage from the explosion.
"Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken," Musk stated.
He went on to clarify that the incident was not connected to any defects that were present in the vehicle itself: "We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion," he added.
In addition, Musk claimed that the explosion was most likely the result of a terrorist strike, highlighting the fact that whoever was responsible for the incident "picked the wrong vehicle."
