While President Donald Trump's Inauguration Day ceremonies were legendary in their own right, First Lady Melania Trump seemed to dominate many of the headlines for many different reasons.

As Page Six reported this week, Melania Trump is not afraid to do things "her way," and made that crystal clear on Monday as her husband was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

The piece focused on Melania Trump's unique style on Inauguration Day, which included a high-buttoned navy blue coat by designer Adam Lippes "paired with a matching boater hat that shielded her eyes from public view."

It also noted that many fashion designers have refused to work with Melania in the past, but that she doesn't really care and isn't afraid to make a splash on her own terms.

What's going on?

Fashion journalist and historian Nancy MacDonell told Page Six, "She doesn’t care. She’s unreadable, inscrutable — and she likes it that way."

MacDonell noted that Melania Trump's style on Inauguration Day reaffirmed that she's in control, and she no longer worries about media critcism.

"The look said 'I’m flawless and in control,' and it showed that she’s going to do things her way this time — she won’t look back," MacDonell said.

Page Six noted:

During the 2017 transition, outgoing First Lady Michelle Obama appeared to grimace as she accepted a photo frame from Tiffany from Melania — who later admitted she found the Obamas to be less than welcoming.

In an interview with "Fox & Friends" earlier this month, Melania Trump said of entering the White House, "The first time was challenging; we didn’t have much information."

She added, "The information was [withheld] from us by the previous administration. But this time I have everything. It’s a very different transition this time, second time around."

Reflecting on the past

During that same interview, Melania Trump admitted that she doesn't feel like she was accepted during her first stint in the White House.

"I just feel that people didn’t accept me maybe … And I didn’t have much support,” she said.

"Maybe some people, they see me as just a wife of the president, but I’m standing on my own two feet, independent. I have my own thoughts. I have my own yes and no. I don’t always agree what my husband is saying or doing. And that’s OK."

Sources from inside Trump's circle even admitted that Melania is doing it her way this time, and will not answer to anyone.
