Newsweek reported that Former First Lady Melania Trump was recently mocked on social media over a video clip showing her and former President Donald Trump at an event in Florida.

While her detractors tried to portray Mrs. Trump as a tragic figure, she devastated that narrative by helping to bring in a massive fundraising haul. 

Critics liken former first lady to a hostage

Among the mockers was MeidasTouch Network editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski who compared Mrs. Trump to a kidnapping victim.

"Melania looks like she’s in a hostage video tonight," the former Republican wrote before adding, "Blink twice if you need help."

Filipkowski was alone, as self-described socialist journalist Victoria Brownworth lashed out with a sarcastic post of her own.

Haul at Trump event dwarfs that seen at Biden fundraiser

Yet according to CBS News, the Palm Beach fundraiser which Mrs. Trump participated in this past weekend scored a "record-breaking sum" of $50.5 million.

That figure dwarfed the $25 million raised at a star-studded Biden event in New York City last week which featured former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama along with late-night comedian Stephen Colbert.

Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez was quick to draw a contrast between how Trump and former President Joe Biden performed.

"It took three Democrat presidents to raise $25 million and one president to raise over $50 million, Donald J. Trump," Alvarez pointed out.

"Americans are fed up with Biden's record of failure"

CBS News noted how RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and co-chair Lara Trump also touted the outcome of Sunday's endeavor in a joint statement.

It asserted that the fundraiser's success is "proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden's record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe."

Meanwhile, Newsweek reported that supporters of Mrs. Trump spoke up as well, with one tweeting, "For all you leftists in the media asking, 'Where's Melania?' Well there's your answer...on the campaign trail raising nearly $51M dollars with the next President of the United States."
