While many freshmen opt to live in the dorms at their university of choosing, Barron Trump's case is understandably a little different.

Reports have indicated that his mother, Melania Trump, prefers that her son reside at the nearby Trump Tower in Manhattan, not far from the school, as opposed to staying in the university's dorms.

By all reported accounts, Barron Trump is having a great time at New York University's Stern School of Business, where he's currently enrolled as a freshman, having turned 18 this year.

The incoming first lady opened up about her thoughts on Barron living at home for the time being, at least until he adjusts to the college life, not to mention the security concerns given his father is Donald Trump.

What did she say?

According to a source cited by People Magazine, Melania Trump prefers to have a close watch over Barron as he makes the adjustment to attending school with others, and presumably the necessary precautions that have to be taken on a daily basis while he's on campus.

She will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student," the source reportedly told the magazine.

They added, "Living in a dorm in a college town isn’t in the stars for him at this point. Barron already has his own political ideas. It all needs to be monitored in light of the situation."

With the constant security threat for President-elect Donald Trump and the logistics of Barron's Secret Service detail, and how much larger that would need to be if he stayed on campus, it's totally understandable that he would live at his own home, which isn't far away from the school.

"Whether or not others think he is capable of being on his own, Melania feels it's better to be around him as much as possible," the source added. "I see that continuing."

People Magazine noted, "As she prepares to resume the role of first lady, Melania is focused on balancing her political duties with the needs of her son during this time, the political source says."

Balancing act

It was also reported that Melania is balancing her work life -- which is about to become at least somewhat busier -- with her son's life.

"Barron is in school all day, so she has plenty of time for official jobs as well as being there for her son when he needs her," the source said.

It has been widely reported that Melania Trump keeps a close eye on her son, and nobody can knock her for that. She's obviously a terrific mother.

Keeping Barron Trump safe in a world full of crazies is the number one priority, as it should be.
