Melania Trump releases statement on the attempt to take her husband's life
Former First Lady Melania Trump, over the weekend, released a statement in response to the assassination attempt on her husband, former President Donald Trump's, life.
The statement, in its entirety, can be found here.
It is rare that the former First Lady either makes a public appearance or releases a public statement. Many are describing this particular statement as powerful - and it is.
She, among other things, reveals the distress that she and the other family members were in during and following the assassination attempt.
"On the brink of a devastating change"
In her letter, we got to see a side of the former First Lady that we don't often get to see.
The political left likes to claim that Melania and Trump's marriage is little more than a business agreement. But, the former First Lady's statement would suggest otherwise.
"When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron's life, were on the bring of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband," she wrote.
After offering her "sincerest sympathy" to the other victims of the "heinous act," the former First Lady went on to reveal something else that - thanks to the mainstream media - we never get to see, namely, Donald Trump's "human side".
Mrs. Trump wrote:
A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald's passion - his laughter, ingenuity, love o music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband's life - his human side - were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.
"Political games are inferior to love"
In the remainder of her statement, the former First Lady asked Americans to rise above their political disagreements.
"Let us not forget that different opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love . . . American politics are only one vehicle that can uplift our communities. Love, compassion, kindness, and empathy are necessities," she wrote.
Mrs. Trump concluded by calling upon Americans, in the wake of the assassination attempt, to unite.
"Let us reunite. Now," she wrote.
She added, "This morning, ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence. We all want a world where respect is paramount, family is first, and love transcends. We can realize this world again. Each of us must demand to get it back."
