Melania Trump statute cut down and stolen

A statue of First Lady Melania Trump has been cut down and stolen.

The statute, according to Fox News, was located in the first lady's home country of Slovenia.

This, as we will see, is not the first time that there was a problem with a Melania Trump statute in Slovenia. One statute, in fact, has already been replaced, with a serious upgrade, but the upgrade was apparently not enough.

The situation is  currently being investigated by the authorities.

The latest incident

The Associated Press reports on the details of this latest incident.

Per the outlet:

Police in Slovenia are investigating the disappearance of a bronze statue of U.S. first lady Melania Trump that was sawed off and carried away from her hometown . . . Police spokeswoman Alenka Drenik Rangus said Friday that the police were informed about the theft of the statue on Tuesday. She said police were working to track down those responsible.

The outlet goes on to report that local media reports have indicated that the bronze statute "sawed off at the ankles and removed."

It's not the first time . . .

It turns out that this is not the first time that a Melania Trump statute had been targeted.

The bronze statute was actually a replica of a previous statute of Melania Trump. That statute was made out of wood - specifically, the trunk of a linden tree. It showed the first lady in a blue dress, similar to the one she wore at President Donald Trump's first inauguration.

Reports indicate that it was burned to the ground in July of 2020. It was after this, that the statute was replaced with a bronze one.

This, of course, took care of the fire threat, but it was still able to be cut down.

No big deal?

At least one local had an interesting take on the situation. The local is Franja Kranjc, who, according to the Associated Press, "works at a bakery in Sevnica that sells cakes with Melania Trump’s name in support of the first lady." This individual told the outlet that the statute likely will not be missed.

"I think no one was really proud at this statue, not even the first lady of the USA. So I think its OK that it’s removed," he said.

It is unclear why this is the case. Neither the first lady nor anyone else in the Trump administration, at the time of this writing, has commented upon the situation.
