Melania Trump will appear at the RNC

It appears that former First Lady Melania Trump will appear at the upcoming Republican National Convention (RNC).

This was first reported by CNN. The outlet claims to have received this information from "two sources familiar with the plans."

Neither Melania Trump nor a Trump spokesperson has confirmed CNN's reporting.

Given the anonymity of the sources and given the lack of confirmation from the Trump people, it is probably best to take CNN's reporting with a grain of salt.

The importance of Melania's possible RNC appearance

If you have been following former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, then you will probably know that Melania Trump has decided to stay out of the spotlight.

The Associated Press reports:

Melania Trump has missed key events in her husband’s presidential bid earlier this year — from the kickoff of the 2024 election in Iowa to Donald Trump’s Super Tuesday victory party. She also did not accompany the presumptive Republican presidential nominee on any of the days of his more than monthlong hush money trial in New York.

According to CNN, the former First Lady, thus far, has only made two public appearances since Trump launched his presidential campaign.

Per the outlet:

Melania Trump has maintained a low profile throughout her husband’s campaign, having attended just two public appearances since he launched his third presidential bid – his campaign kickoff in November 2022 at their Mar-a-Lago home and a brief appearance in March when she accompanied her husband to vote in the Florida presidential primary.

This helps to explain why an appearance at the RNC by Melania Trump would be a big deal.

Looking forward

The RNC is scheduled to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15 to July 18, 2024.

At the convention, Trump will officially be named the Republican Party's 2024 presidential nominee. There is also a possibility that he will finally name his running mate at the convention.

It appears that, if Melania Trump does attend the event, then she could be more than just a spectator. "Discussions are still underway regarding whether she will speak onstage or be a formal part of the convention program," CNN reports.

It appears that many other Trump family members will attend the event as well.

Newsweek reports:

Among the other family members expected to appear at the RNC in Milwaukee are three of Trump's children, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Boulos, all of whom were named as delegates for Florida. Earlier this month, The New York Post reported that a spokesperson for his other daughter, Ivanka Trump, said she will also be at the convention.
