Mexican government allows US Marines into country for training
Donald Trump is not caving to Mexico as the last administration did, and the result has been a series of wins for both Trump's administration and the United States of America as a whole.
The latest win for Trump's administration was a recent vote by Mexico's Senate that approved a series of joint military exercises. Breitbart reports that "in the coming days, 155 U.S. Marines will head south to train Mexican Navy infantrymen."
The unanimous approval for the joint military exercises marks a significant step in cooperation between America and Mexico, two countries that have definitely had their differences in the last few years.
Friction between neighbors
Many Republicans don't have a lot of respect for leadership in Mexico because they seem relatively unconcerned with securing their northern border.
As a result of their indifference and liberal administrations like Barack Obama's and Joe Biden's practically inviting illegal immigrants into the country, the USA has been taking on a troubling amount of undocumented immigrants in recent years.
Not only are many immigrants undocumented, but at least some of them are sex traffickers, drug mules, or otherwise involved in crime. Innocent children are smuggled north over the border every day, and neither Mexico's government nor America's liberals seem willing to do much about it.
As a result, Donald Trump has been playing hardball with Mexico, according to Newsweek:
It comes as Trump has taken a tough approach to Mexico. His administration reinstated the "Remain in Mexico" policy, officially known as the Migrant Protection Protocols, which requires asylum-seekers to stay in Mexico while their U.S. immigration cases are processed. Additionally, the administration ended "catch-and-release" practices, which previously allowed detained migrants to be released into the U.S. while awaiting immigration proceedings.
Trump has also intensified efforts to expand the border wall, adding new barriers along the southern border. Meanwhile, he has hit Mexico with new tariffs which he says are designed to reduce the flow of drugs over the border. The tariffs could push Mexico into a technical recession this year, according to analysts.
Trump also refused a recent request by Mexico asking for water.
Despite these recent tensions, it appears as though Mexico's Senate knows they're way better off partnering WITH America instead of fighting AGAINST America.
Military exercises
In addition to the 155 American troops heading to Mexico, Mexico will send 53 Mexican troops to California for training sessions.
Despite apparent differences with Donald Trump, Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum reportedly pushed for the move.
The cross-training is expected to begin during the week of March 24 and continue into April.
