Disgraced former attorney Michael Cohen made headlines this week when he testified in former President Donald Trump's hush money trial.

Charges of dishonesty are nothing new for Cohen, as he pleaded guilty six years ago to perjuring himself before Congress. However, Cohen's own former lawyer is now publicly accusing him of lying on the witness stand.

"Virtually every statement he made about me is another lie"

According to the Washington Examiner, that allegation was put forward on Wednesday during a Capitol Hill appearance by attorney Bob Costello.

He recounted how the day before, Cohen accused Costello of attempting to pressure him to remain quiet about then-President Donald Trump in 2018.

"I read Michael Cohen’s testimony from yesterday's trial in New York on the way down on the train, and virtually every statement he made about me is another lie," Costello told lawmakers.

Costello: Cohen said he didn't "have anything on Donald Trump"

Costello maintained that Cohen was desperate to avoid being incarcerated, at one point telling him, "I will do whatever the F I have to do. I will never spend one day in jail."

Costello further said that far from pressuring Cohen to keep quiet, he advised his client to come forward with any relevant information regarding the president.

"I swear to God, Bob, I don't have anything on Donald Trump," Costello quoted Cohen as saying. "I don't have anything on Donald Trump."

The Examiner noted that Cohen testified on Tuesday that Costello floated the possibility of a presidential pardon as an incentive to keep his mouth shut.

Lawyer accuses Cohen of being an "inveterate liar"

The newspaper reported that in order to bolster Cohen's, prosecutors introduced an email from Costello which read, "I am sure you saw the news that Rudy is joining the Trump legal team. I told you my relationship with Rudy, which could be very, very useful for you."

Cohen portrayed this message to mean, "Don't flip. Don't speak. Don't cooperate." He further insisted that something was "really sketchy and wrong about" Costello.

For his part, Costello assured members of the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government that he had material of his own to prove Cohen is an "inveterate liar."

"He picks out, cherry-picks certain emails or text messages and tries to make them look like something else," Costello complained.
