Is Michelle Obama trying to sabotage Joe Biden's campaign? Speculation is swirling after the former First Lady admitted that she is "terrified" of a Donald Trump victory.

Translation: Joe's not doing enough.

Without using Trump's name, Obama told a podcast that the upcoming election keeps her awake at night.

“Our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit – it affects us in ways that sometimes I think people take for granted,” Obama said. "I am terrified about what could possibly happen."

Obama continued to take clear shots at Donald Trump.

“We can’t just say what the first thing that comes to our minds. That is not authenticity to me. That’s childish, and we see childish leadership right before us – what that looks like and how that feels, where somebody is just base, and vulgar and cynical in a leadership position,” she said.

Democrats have been spooked by the political terrain, which shows Trump and Biden neck-and-neck despite multiple indictments being lodged against Trump.

Michelle Obama appeared to show some frustration with the failure of the indictments to completely disable Trump's campaign.

“Other people can be indicted a bunch of times and still run for office. Black men can’t. You just learn to be good. And in the end, you benefit from that extra resilience,” she said.

Barack steps in

Michelle Obama has long denied any political aspirations, but Biden's vulnerability has led to continuing speculation of a plan to swap her and Biden before the election.

Former president Barack Obama has used more discretion than his wife to share his thoughts about 2024, leaking his anxieties to media outlets like the Washington Post.

According to the eminent liberal rag, Obama met with Biden for lunch late last year and tried to rouse him out of his complacency.

Members of Obama's inner circle, such as former attorney general Eric Holder, told USAToday that Obama sees the race as "very close" and fears "incalculable damage" if Trump returns to power.

The report said Obama will appear on the campaign trail at strategic moments to "move the needle."

"I think that's what motivates him. I think that's what will continue to motivate him," Holder said.
