Mike Lindell says he is considering run against Tim Walz in Minnesota governor's race
MyPillow founder and ardent Trump supporter Mike Lindell claimed in a recent interview that "no one wants Tim Walz" as governor and said he is considering running against him in 2026.
“I live here in Minnesota,” Lindell told the Daily Caller. “Everywhere I go, no one wants Tim Walz. They don’t.”
“It’s like even if you … are a Democrat and you think he [Walz] is a good Democrat governor, they don’t even like him for what they did, these nonsensical things he did,” Lindell added.
Lindell said he is carefully weighing his options to see if a gubernatorial run makes sense.
"Due diligence"
“I’m looking at every single thing, option and doing my due diligence,” Lindell said.
It's not a new idea for Lindell, who also considered running for governor in 2018 and 2022, but ultimately decided not to.
Walz was selected as the running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, but the pair could not hold onto enough voters to get across the finish line.
In a New Yorker interview last month, Walz said he would consider running for president in 2028 if he felt his "skill set" was right for the job.
Not a strong candidate
Walz was not really a strong candidate for vice president, though, because he has been caught lying about his accomplishments.
He claimed he was a combat veteran, but he left the National Guard right before his unit went to Afghanistan. That was probably his biggest lie, but there were others.
He also got negative pushback after mandating that schools in his state put tampons in the boys' bathroom, earning him the nickname "Tampon Tim."
It's hard to say when Democrats will figure out that they need to stop putting up their most extreme candidates as the face of the party, but Republicans will keep taking the wins until that happens.
Aso for Walz, he's probably much better off relying on the power of the incumbency and running for governor again than trying to take his radical left-wing policies to a national election again.
Lindell is popular and might be able to give him a run for his money, but incumbency is a hard power to overcome.
