Mike Pence's Indiana home will likely be searched by the FBI for classified information

February 3, 2023

According to people familiar with the plans, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is anticipated to search former vice president Mike Pence's Indiana home in the upcoming days, the Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the same people who told the WSJ, the Justice Department and the former vice president's legal counsel are negotiating a time to schedule the search, according to Breitbart News.

The search follows a recent increase in law enforcement agencies' scrutiny of how government employees handle classified information. Additionally, Pence turned over confidential documents to federal authorities that he had found at his Indiana home earlier this month.

Pence's attorney responds

The documents were  “inadvertently packed up and transported and Mr. Pence was unaware of their existence” according to Pence's attorneys, the WSJ reported.

As a result of numerous reports indicating that between 20 and 25 documents were discovered in Vice President Joe Biden's office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C. as well as other locations like his home in Delaware, he is now implicated in the scandal roiling around the President. Federal agents have recently searched Biden's two Delaware homes after the documents were found.

The former president Donald Trump's Florida mansion, Mar-A-Lago, was raided by FBI agents last summer, which coincided with Pence and Biden's document disclosures.

The former president may have taken sensitive documents out of the White House when he moved out, so the FBI searched his home for those items.

Agents reportedly searched Melania Trump's bedroom and closets during the search. Over 50 empty folders were among the seized items the FBI took after the raid.

A close friend of Pence speaks out

According to a close friend of Pence, the search by the former vice president's legal team was "exhaustive," and they don't think any more secret documents are present in his home.
