Over the past week, a convergence of extreme weather and situations occurred throughout the Midwest that resulted in multiple fatalities, with National Guard assistance required in several areas.

According to USAToday, at least 42 have died as a result of wildfires, dust storms, and tornadoes that all occurred within the same stretch of days, causing chaos and havoc across multiple Midwest states.

Buildings were reportedly "decimated" as a result of the natural disasters, along with countless injuries in addition to the fatalities.

The damage from the natural disasters occurred across Kansas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, and Oklahoma, according to outlet.

What's going on?

Making matters even worse for victims of the natural disasters are the resulting power outages, which slows emergency response in many cases and places vulnerable people at risk.

Trump acknowledged the widespread damage that occurred in the Midwest, noting that he was sending all of the required assistance to the areas affected.

USAToday noted:

President Donald Trump said in a statement that his office was monitoring the deadly bout of severe weather that struck the region and deploying the National Guard to Arkansas, where three people died. Dozens more were injured after an EF-3 tornado with 165 mph winds ripped through Cave City on Friday.

"My administration is ready to assist state and local officials, as they help their communities to try and recover from the damage," Trump said. "Please join Melania and me in praying for everyone impacted by these terrible storms!"

Tornados in Missouri

While all of the states mentioned above suffered from the disasters, Missouri experienced the most fatalities, which mostly resulted from the tornado outbreak that affected the state.

Eight people died in Kansas as a result of a deadly wind and dust storm swept through the state. The storm was responsible for massive pile-up collision on Interstate 70.
