Musk tells Hannity that he was set to endorse Trump before the assassination attempt
Fox News host Sean Hannity interviewed President Donald Trump and Elon Musk recently and some of the revelations that came out of that interview even surprised Trump himself.
According to Fox News, Musk was asked about his endorsement of then-candidate Trump during his campaign, which came after he was nearly killed in Butler, Pennsylvania.
During the interview, Musk admitted that he was going to endorse Trump regardless of the assassination attempt, which undoubtedly united many behind Trump.
Trump was surprised at the admission, suggesting that he wasn't sure if Musk would have endorsed him, assassination attempt or not.
What did he say?
Musk made it clear to Hannity -- and Trump -- that he was already on board the Trump wagon, admitting that the assassination pushed the endorsement up a little further.
"I was going to do it anyway," Musk said, adding that it "was a precipitating event."
Elon Musk confirms he was always planning to endorse Trump—the Butler setup just pushed it faster.
Musk: "Well, I was going to do it anyway..."
Trump: "That speed it up a little bit? I didn't know that." pic.twitter.com/BSuUcRzIVp— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) February 19, 2025
Trump's reaction was priceless:
"That sped it up a little bit?" Trump then said to Musk. "I didn’t know that."
Musk responded, "It sped it up, but I was going to do it anyway."
Fox News recalled:
Musk announced that he "fully supports" former President Trump after gunshots rang out at his Pennsylvania rally in July in a move that many, including some Democrats, believe played a significant role in Trump's campaign.
As we all now know, Musk would ultimately become one of Trump's closest and most powerful -- and influential -- advisers, as he has successfully executed the mission of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Social media reacts
Users across social media reacted to Musk's admission that he was already set to endorse Trump before the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
"One tweet and one inch saved the world," one X user wrote, referring to Musk's tweet and the bullet that came within an inch of likely killing Trump.
Another X user wrote, "Elon knew. We all knew."
Trump's supporters are thrilled that he selected Musk as such a close and trusted ally, and the partnership is definitely paying off.
