Musk was under surveillance by Biden's DHS and DOJ: Report
Tesla billionaire Elon Musk has dominated the headlines over the past few weeks and especially recently given his online feud with President Donald Trump, who many say was helped in the 2024 election by Musk's influence and money.
While many are not fond of Musk's connection to Trump, a bombshell Daily Mail report indicated this week that Musk was being watched closely for years under former President Joe Biden due to his connection to foreign powers.
Several big government agencies under Biden's watch were trailing Musk, including the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice.
The Wall Street Journal was made aware by quoted sources that Musk was being watched to ensure he wasn't being swayed by actors "in Eastern Europe and elsewhere."
What's going on?
The sources told the outlet that the probe was launched due to the number of foreign nationals in Musk's inner circle, and that was before he was publicly supporting Donald Trump.
However, the sources familiar with the investigations also said that many were uncomfortable with Musk bringing in outsiders when he was publicly supporting Trump, especially on sensitive issues.
The Daily Mail noted:
Two insiders within the PAC said they were growing wary of who was joining Musk at key meetings, but did not offer details on who the people were that were coming under scrutiny.
Musk's travels with foreigners was so frequent that it reportedly raised additional concerns within the PAC, and ultimately led to "extensive vetting" occuring, which resulted in PAC's activities being separated from Musk's.
Musk's foreign business dealings, to any reasonable person, are completely normal and expected, as he has sensitive contracts and agreements with many different countries and leaders based on his Starlink company alone.
However, it was reported by other sources that Musk's proximity to foreign nationals was a "source of tension" within Trump's White House.
Mysterious circumstances
While the investigations probably aren't still ongoing, at least at the level they were under Biden, there's still not much information on the status of the probes.
Several U.S. government agencies in 2022 and 2023 tracked foreign nationals coming and going to Elon Musk’s properties, according to people familiar with the matter.

Musk, through Starlink, has relationships with some of the world's top leaders, and will likely always be under some level of scrutiny as a result.
Only time will tell if anything shady is discovered.
