Outgoing Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced last month that she would not seek to continue leading her party following this year's midterm elections.
While it's not clear how long she plans to remain in Washington, Pelosi's daughter has apparently given up on any desire to follow in her mother's footsteps.
Alexandra Pelosi made that declaration during an interview on December 12 with "CBS Mornings," claiming that she is "not a political person."
Alexandra Pelosi says Americans are living in a "toxic political landscape" that social media has amplified.

However, the younger Pelosi's claim of being apolitical did not prevent her lashing out at conservatives while discussing a documentary she made for HBO called "Pelosi in the House."
Specifically, Pelosi complained that "hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent to demonize Nancy Pelosi over the years."
"It's really sort of a sad reflection of where we've come," Pelosi complained, adding, "It's what social media has done to this country. It is really destroying the fabric of our culture."
She went on to lament that "there's a whole political-industrial complex that went and turned my last name into a curse word."
Pelosi is not alone in condemning rhetoric directed against her family, with California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom asserting last month that it was to blame for the violent attack on Pelosi's father, Paul Pelosi.

"I have seen the dehumanization of Nancy Pelosi," Newsom told CBS News in November. "I don’t think anyone’s been dehumanized like her consistently."
"Don’t tell me that’s not aiding and abetting this. Of course, it is," he insisted. "It’s sowing the seeds that create a culture and a climate like this."
However, Fox News host Tucker Carlson has pointed out that Paul Pelosi's alleged attacker, illegal immigrant David DePape hardly fits the profile of a typical conservative. Carlson cited reports from DePape's neighbors that he "lives in a hippie school bus in Berkeley with a BLM banner and a pride flag out front."
Further, Alexandra Pelosi has been no stranger to violent rhetoric herself, warning then-President Donald Trump in 2019 that her mother will "cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding."
