When Nathan Wade's former divorce lawyer Terrence Bradley was called back to the stand to testify about his knowledge of the relationship between Wade and Fulton County, Georgia DA Fani Willis, he said he couldn't remember when their relationship started.

Wade had tried to claim attorney-client privilege to avoid Bradley having to testify again, but the judge rejected those claims.

I do not have knowledge of when it started," Bradley said when questioned.

Lawyer Ashley Merchant asked Bradley about a text message that claimed the two were involved before Willis was elected district attorney.

"I never witnessed anything"

Bradley said he was "speculating," adding, "I never witnessed anything."

He finally said that "at some point" Wade told him that he and Willis were dating.

"I can’t tell you what date that was," Bradley said. He also said he couldn't remember details about allegedly telling Merchant that he was told Wade and Willis had sex in the office or about trips the two took together.

Bradley represented Wade between 2018 and 2022.

Timing is important

The timing of the relationship is important because the legal issue at hand is whether Willis hired Wade in order to enrich herself with taxpayer dollars, such as taking trips with him that he paid for using his business credit card.

If she did so, it constitutes misuse of public funds. She has claimed on the stand that she paid him back in cash for her part of the trips.

Both Willis and Wade have said that their relationship started after he was hired, but another witness who worked in Willis's office said they became a couple in 2019, long before he was hired.

Text message and phone call data show over 11,000 interactions between them in 2021, before Wade was hired by Willis. Most of the interactions were after business hours and on weekends.

The data also shows that Wade visited Willis 35 times before he was hired, including twice late at night.

If Willis and Wade did misuse public funds or lie about their relationship, it could tank the case against Trump, disqualifying them and causing the entire case to fall apart.
