Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, are facing banishment from the royal family over their ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

As reported by the Daily Mail, King Charles is under mounting pressure to ban the couple from private events after it was reported that Ferguson called Epstein a "supreme friend" over e-mail.

Royal scandal grows

At the time, "Fergie" had publicly trashed Epstein in the media, who was already a convicted sex offender. But she sang a different tune privately, calling Epstein, who had lent her a large sum of money, a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend."

"I know you feel hellaciously let down by me from what you were either told or read and I must humbly apologies to you and your heart for that," she wrote.

Ferguson thanked Epstein for his financial support and said she only disavowed him to protect her own reputation.

“Sometimes the heart speaks better than words. You have my heart. With lots of love, dear Jeffrey," she said.

The bombshell e-mails add to years of headaches concerning Andrew, whose status as a royal has been steadily downgraded over his ties to Epstein.

Andrew has always denied wrongdoing, although he has admitted to an error in judgment by associating with Epstein after he became a sex offender.

The last straw?

Despite being stripped of his titles by the late Queen Elizabeth, Andrew is still able to attend private dinners with his ex-wife, who has stuck by his side.

Charles has already taken steps to sideline his brother, including cutting off his security and allowance. Andrew has resisted pressure to abandon the 30-room Royal Lodge at Windsor.

The newly reported e-mails could force Charles to escalate by cutting Andrew out of the private life of the royals, however.

"It is about the last sanction he may be able to take," said one insider.

Fergie dropped

King Charles had been welcoming Ferguson back into the royal fold after years of estrangement, but that could end now, the Daily Mail noted.

A spokesperson for Fergusion said she was trying to mollify Epstein after he threatened to sue her.

"Like many people, she was taken in by his lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with pedophilia," the spokesperson said.

Fergie has been dropped by at least six charities, the New York Post reports.

“Following the information shared this weekend on the Duchess of York’s correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia’s House has taken the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue as a patron of the charity,” British children’s hospice Julia’s House said in a statement.
