New poll has Trump dominating Nevada

A new poll has former President Donald Trump dominating his Republican 2024 rivals in Nevada.

The poll was commissioned by American Greatness and conducted by National Research Inc.

The pollster surveyed "500 likely Nevada Republican Primary voters" between May 30 and June 1, 2023.

Finding number 1: Trump easily tops the Republican field

Among the questions participants were asked was who they would vote for if the 2024 Republican presidential primary were to be held today.

Here, Trump came out on top with a majority - 53% - of the vote. Not only did Trump get a majority of the vote, but he is up 32 percentage points on his closest rival, who is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). DeSantis only managed to score 21% of the vote.

The dropoff from Trump to DeSantis is already large. The dropoff from Trump to the third-place spot is even larger: a whopping 50 percentage points.

That third-place spot went to Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who received 3% of the vote. U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy both received 2%. And, the remaining candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence, received 1% or less.

Finding number 2: Trump is leading on key issues

The pollster also asked participants about which candidate they would prefer to lead the country on key issues. Here, Trump, once again, won big time.

As for which candidate is "best to improve our economy," Trump beat DeSantis 64% to 11%. Regarding which candidate is the "strongest to oppose far-left progressives," Trump beat DeSantis 49% to 22%. And, on which candidate "cares about the needs and concerns of people like me," Trump topped DeSantis 46% to 17%.

Finally, there is the question of which Republican candidate "has the best chance of defeating [President] Joe Biden." This was the closest finding of the entire poll. But, Trump, once again, did come out on top, leading DeSantis 39% to 29%.

There is no denying it

This poll confirms what we have been seeing in poll after poll for some time now, namely, that Trump is clearly the Republicans' top presidential candidate for 2024.

Real Clear Politics has Trump, on average, beating DeSantis by 30.8 percentage points. It also has Trump beating Biden in the general election by, on average, 1.8 percentage points.

Despite Trump's commanding lead over the Republican field, there are still some - such as former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie - who are entering the Republican primary race, despite seemingly having no real chance to win.

Trump recently put out a statement, saying:

It will be a race to see who will be the first to get to 1% in the Republican Primary, Sloppy Chris Christie, who had a 9% approval rating when he was Governor of New Jersey, or the little known (for a reason!) Governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu, who is 30 points down to me in his own State, and never lifts a finger to help anybody but himself. Both of these gentlemen are wasting their time and money, they have ZERO chance!
