New York Republican blasts Biden's 'dereliction of duty'

Joe Biden's neglect of the nation's borders is leaving Americans vulnerable to crime and terrorism, a New York Republican warned.

Upstate Republican Claudia Tenney told Newsmax that Biden's administration is "completely derelict in their duty."

Biden's dereliction of duty

Biden and his Homeland Security chief, Alejandro Mayorkas, have insisted that the nation's borders are "secure" despite a historic surge in illegal immigration. Tenney, whose district borders Canada, noted that there is a rise in people on terror watch lists being caught at the northern border, too.

There may be others who are going undetected, she noted.

"We have no idea who these people are. We don't have the resources to vet them because there are just so many coming across," she said.

She said Biden and Mayorkas are "completely derelict in their duty" to keep the American people safe.

"Alejandro Mayorkas continues to lie to the American people about what's really happening. They have done everything they can to incentivize people coming here," Tenney said.

Migrant crisis slams New York

Tenney also took shots at state and local leaders in New York State, which has been hit hard by the border crisis over the past year.

Governor Kathy Hochul (D) is "giving even more money to bring even more migrants here to our country, and they're slipping through the cracks," Tenney said.

New York City mayor Eric Adams (D) announced cuts to policing, education, and other services last week as the city scrambles to deal with the influx of roughly 130,000 migrants.

Adams is "defunding the police," Tenney said, noting that police are already demoralized by the Democratic party's soft-on-crime policies.

"[Mayor Adams'] solution to the migrant crisis is to cut education and to defund the police again in New York City," Tenney said.

"We need more police officers," he continued. "We need more cadets. We need more recruits. And yet recruitment of police officers, law enforcement, or military — the people that keep us safe, that ensure our security both here and overseas — are at historically low numbers because of the demoralization of these people by Democrats in office: from Joe Biden to Kathy Hochul to AOC to Mayor Adams and all these people down the line."

Adams himself has said that the migrant crisis will "destroy" New York City.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
