Nikki Haley makes waves in New Hampshire primary push

Former South Carolina Republican Gov. Nikki Haley is making progress in her New Hampshire primary push for president, but not in the way she wants.

According to a new report, Haley is increasingly being viewed as a top option as a vice presidential running mate alongside former President Donald Trump.

The current situation

"A post-debate NMB Research poll of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, conducted on behalf of the Competitiveness Coalition and the Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy, put Haley tied for second place with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — her best showing in a survey here yet," Politico reported.

"But the support DeSantis and Haley notched, 10 percent apiece, is still leagues behind Trump, at 47 percent," it added.

Best chance against Biden?

A poll earlier this month noted Haley as the only GOP candidate who would currently beat President Donald Trump.

"Haley, 51, had a six percentage-point lead over Biden, 80, in a CNN/SSRS poll released Thursday — with the president trailing Haley 49% to 43%," the New York Post reported.

"Former President Donald Trump, 77, drew 47% against Biden’s 46% and former Vice President Mike Pence, 64, bested him 46% to 44%. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), 57, led the president 46% to 44% and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, 61, edged out Biden 44% to 42%," it added.

Making history?

"The phones have been ringing off the hook, the support has been incredible, and the crowds have been amazing," Haley posted on X after the poll results.

"We are blessed. Let’s go make history!" she added.

Haley remains the only top female contender in the GOP primary battle, seeking to become the nation's first female president.

She has strongly argued against both Biden and Trump, pushing for a new generation of younger leaders for America's future. In her home state of South Carolina, her message has helped bring her to second in current polls behind Trump.

The strategy is working, but it may not be enough to overtake Trump's massive lead in current polls, leading to new questions over whether Haley would be the best running mate as vice president.
