Former Disinformation Governance Board chief Nina Jankowicz, who had a job for what seemed like a week before the Biden administration was so humiliated it had to get rid of it, just got the news she was probably long dreading. 

According to Breitbart, House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) used his newfound subpoena power to summon Jankowicz to testify before Congress in April.

The asinine governance board was also called the "Ministry of Truth" by its critics.

Jankowicz was intensely ridiculed over her position as the new disinformation czar, especially regarding her past, obviously anti-conservative remarks.

Conducting oversight

As part of its mission to investigate all the shady scandals and doings of the Biden administration, Jordan and his committee are set to investigate how it ever got as far as it did.

"The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight of the so-called “DisinformationGovernance Board” within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), its creation, its activities, and related matters," a cover letter accompanying the subpoena read.

It added: "We have repeatedly sought information from you concerning your official actions and duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collect information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights."

The letter continued:

Our oversight of the so-called 'DisinformationGovernance Board' and its effect on Americans’ civil liberties fall squarely within the committee’s jurisdiction and are 'subject[s] on which legislation could be had.' These potential legislative reforms include the prohibition of such a federal 'disinformation' entity, restrictions on the executive branch’s authority to collect speech-related information about American citizens, or enhanced protections surrounding civil liberties.

The development from Jordan's committee comes in the wake of the formation of the Weaponization of the Federal Government Select Subcommittee, which will also dive into investigations regarding possible civil liberty violations against Americans.

Jankowicz is reportedly scheduled to testify on April 10. It's unclear at the time of this writing if she'll comply.

Congressional Republicans actually did their jobs at the time and turned up the heat against the formation of the disinformation board. The pressure finally broke the Biden administration, disbanding the DHS board just two months later.

Thank God America avoided such stupidity. At least for now.
