North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson hospitalized after suffering burns at truck show
Most polls suggest that North Carolina Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is facing an uphill climb in his effort to become governor.
Yet bad poll numbers aren't Robinson's only worry, as the gubernatorial candidate had to be hospitalized late last week.
Robinson suffered burns to his hand while attending a truck show
According to the New York Post, Robinson experienced sustained injuries to his hand when he leaned up against a hot vehicle while attending the Mayberry Truck Show.
Campaign staff member Matt Hurley said in a statement posted to social media that the candidate was "in good spirits" while "being treated for burns following an incident."
Another staffer later informed the Washington Post on Friday evening that the 56-year-old official was at home and doing "fine" following his release.
Meanwhile, a survey carried out between September 23 and September 26 by the East Carolina University Center for Survey Research showed Robinson losing to North Carolina Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein by 17 points.
CNN report claims that Robinson once called himself a "black Nazi" on porn site
The Post noted that Robinson has been dogged by scandal in recent weeks stemming from internet posts he allegedly made nearly decades ago.
In one example, CNN reported that the lieutenant governor once declared himself to be a "black Nazi" who regarded slavery as being justified in some cases.
Other posts concerned watching various types of pornographic material and recalled acting as a peeping Tom when the poster was 14.
The Post reported that for his part, Robinson has vehemently denied writing the posts and announced that his attorneys are looking into taking legal action against CNN.
"Those are not the words of Mark Robinson"
"Well guys, the news media is at it again," Robinson declared in a video statement that was released on social media earlier this month.

"You all have seen the half-truths and outright lies of Josh Stein on these ads over and over, and now a story leaked by him to CNN is appearing now," Robinson continued.
"Let me reassure you, the things you will see in that story, those are not the words of Mark Robinson," he insisted. "You know my words, you know my character, and you know I have been completely transparent in this race and before."
