Former President Barack Obama received pushback on Monday when he reacted to a sickening school shooting by claiming that firearms are the number one cause of death for children.
According to Breitbart, Obama made the statement after three children and three adults were murdered at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.
We are failing our children. Guns are now the leading cause of death for children in the U.S.

That contention appears to be based on statistics published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Yet as Breitbart pointed out, the figure only holds up if one 18 and 19-year-olds within its definition of "children" despite them being old enough to vote.
"One sees that the number of firearm-related deaths for children aged 0-17 was 2,281 in 2020, while the number of motor vehicle deaths for the same ages was 2,503," the website pointed out.

Breitbart noted that Obama is not the first person to make such an assertion, as left-wing Hollywood actor Billy Porter did as well during an appearance on ABC's "The View" last week:
Unhinged actor Billy Porter screams about DeSantis carrying out a "civil war of the mind" because he's cracking on kids being sexually exploited at drag shows. "They're messing with our minds!" he screamed.

During his rant, Porter lashed out at Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis for backing legislation to protect children from sexually explicit content at school.
What's more, "The View" co-host Joy Behar declared that there is a "war" being waged against transgender individuals.
Meanwhile, the Daily Caller cited a statement from the Nashville Metro Police Department as saying that the 28-year-old Covenant School shooter identified as transgender and left behind a manifesto.
Independent conservative journalist Andy Ngo revealed that the Trans Resistance Network has released a statement in which it demanded that the shooter "not be misgendered." The same group had earlier called for "vengeance" after Tennessee passed a bill regulating drag shows.
"Hate has consequences."
