An individual linked to former President Barack Obama is currently running a division within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The Daily Caller identifies the individual as Robert Choi.

This report is based on "a new memo from the American Accountability Foundation (AAF)."

The big question is why this highly controversial employee has been allowed to remain in this leadership position, and why was he recently promoted?

A look at Choi's background:

The Daily Caller shows just how controversial Choi is.

The outlet reports:

Robert Choi served as the director of the IRS’s Tax-Exempt Organizations Rulings and Agreements division in 2010, when the agency began applying heightened scrutiny to organizations associated with the Tea Party movement seeking tax-exempt status . . .

But, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

The outlet continues:

Choi led the Tax-Exempt Organizations Rulings and Agreements division between 2007 and 2010, reporting to Lois Lerner, who admitted in 2013 to singling out applications containing the words “tea party” or “patriot” for tax-exempt status, resulting in her resignation. Emails showing Lerner describing Republicans as “crazies” and “a**holes” also fueled allegations of anti-conservative bias within the agency.

The Daily Caller also brings attention to Holly Paz, who also holds a high-ranking position in the IRS and who also has links to Obama. "Paz was placed on administrative leave in 2013 due to her involvement in the scandal, but was later elevated to a prominent position in the agency during the Biden administration," the outlet writes.

He's not the only one?

The Washington Examiner recently put out another report showing that yet another IRS official with a controversial past has ties to Obama. This one is Elizabeth Kastenberg.

Per the outlet:

Elizabeth Kastenberg, the new acting director of the IRS’s Office of Professional Responsibility, was directly involved in the Obama administration’s audit of conservative nonprofit organizations, which prevented them from taking part in the 2012 election . . . Katsenberg worked to find ways to deny tax-exempt status to groups linked to the Tea Party movement and even admitted that the agency’s behavior was politically motivated.

Yet, this has not stopped Kastenberg from getting this leadership position.

The outlet goes on to reveal:

In addition to Kastenberg, Jacqueline Bennett, a supervisory legal administrative specialist, is listed as a member of the office’s "management team.” Bennett has a history of making social media posts critical of the conservative movement, including at least one instance where she compared the United States under the Trump administration to Germany under the Nazi Party.

Neither the IRS nor the White House has released a statement on the matter.
