Michelle Obama receives hilarious pushback after promoting Beyonce's country album that is 'stealing white people music'

It can be rather humorous at times to see the "woke" left's racialist rhetoric get flipped and used against them by non-leftists, especially when the left acts offended at the reality of getting a taste of the same medicine they so often force everyone else to take.

Such was the case with the trollish responses to a social media post from former first lady Michelle Obama that praised singer Beyonce for her new "country" album, which one commenter joked was "stealing white people music," according to Atlanta Black Star.

The outlet sought to dismiss the pushback against Obama's post and Beyonce's album as though it all came exclusively from "angry racists" when, in actuality, it was mostly just typical social media sarcasm and well-deserved turnabout.

Obama heralds Beyonce's country album

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Michelle Obama wrote, "@Beyonce, you are a record-breaker and history-maker. With Cowboy Carter, you have changed the game once again by helping redefine a music genre and transform our culture. I am so proud of you!"

The former first lady then brought race and politics into the mix as she continued, "Cowboy Carter is a reminder that despite everything we’ve been through to be heard, seen, and recognized, we can still dance, sing, and be who we are unapologetically. This album reminds us that we ALL have power. There’s power in our history, in our joy, and in our votes -- and we can each use our own gifts and talents to make our voices heard on the issues that matter most to us."

"Together, we can stand up for what we believe in, and we must do that at the ballot box this year. The issues that impact us most are on the ballot across the country -- from equal pay and racial justice to reproductive healthcare and climate change. And as Queen Bey says at the end of Ya Ya, we need to 'keep the faith' and 'VOTE!'" Obama added along with a plug for her purportedly nonpartisan When We All Vote organization that focuses on registering typically Democratic constituencies like young adults and minorities to vote.

"Cultural appropriation" and "stealing white people music"

Former first lady Obama also shared a similar post on X, and while there were ample supportive replies that cheered on Obama and Beyonce, there was also plenty of pushback as well.

"Oh she’s not stealing white people music is she?" one user wrote referring to a common complaint from black people that white people have stolen their styles of music.

Along those same lines, another user joked, "Black ppl always trying to take credit for the accomplishments of white ppl."

The often-heard complaint from "woke" leftists about the "cultural appropriation" of white people taking aspects of minority cultures as their own was also a common theme throughout the comments in reply to Obama's X post, and more than a few also took issue with Obama's claim that Beyonce helped "redefine" the country music genre.

"'Redefine a music genre' Isn’t that called 'cultural appropriation?'" one user asked, while another mocked, "I am offended how Beyoncé has appropriated my culture and heritage the way she has."

Not the first black country artist

Others pushed back against the implication that Beyonce was the first black artist to make a foray into country music by pointing out other black artists who'd blazed that trail years ago, if not decades earlier.

"Have you never heard of Charlie Pride? Darius Rucker?" one commenter wondered, while another sarcastically replied, "I'm sooooo proud that Beyonce is taking country away from White Supremacists like Ray Charles, Charley Pride, Cowboy Troy, Dobie Gray, Darius Rucker...."

Finally, aside from the obvious jokes and some admittedly trollish remarks, there were plenty of commenters who simply observed that, after giving it a listen, Beyonce's country album wasn't particularly good in their opinion and was nothing special for anybody to get all worked up about.
