Obama says 'all of us are complicit' in Israel-Hamas war

Barack Obama dusted off the pulpit this weekend to lecture the world about the war in Israel.

Speaking to a crowd of adoring former employees in Chicago, Obama declared that "nobody's hands are clean" in the brutal hostilities between Israel and Hamas.

"You have to admit that nobody's hands are clean, that all of us are complicit to some degree," he said.

Obama's latest lecture

Hamas and its sympathizers have justified the October 7 attack as a reaction to Israel's "occupation" of Palestine.

Obama, while condemning Hamas, said Israel is both a victim and part of the problem - an idea that may strike some as "contradictory," Obama conceded.

"That what Hamas did was horrific and there's no justification for it. And what is also true is that the occupation and what's happening to Palestinians is unbearable," he said.

Obama made the comments at a 15th-anniversary party for his 2008 election victory - which Obama seems to think ushered in some kind of religious transformation of the world.

As president, Obama gave Israel the cold shoulder while bending over backward to appease Iran. But Obama isn't blaming Hamas or Iran or, heaven forbid, himself - this one's on "all of us."

Blaming both sides

According to Obama, there is basically nothing he could have done differently.

“I look at this, and I think back, ‘What could I have done during my presidency to move this forward, as hard as I tried?’” he said. “But there’s a part of me that’s still saying, ‘Well, was there something else I could have done?’”

Continuing his little discourse, Obama said anger on both sides prevents people from seeing clearly and finding a resolution to the conflict.

"Nothing to do"

Many Palestinians who have been killed in Israel's military bombardment have "nothing to do" with the terrorists who rule the Gaza Strip - but Israelis are focused on their own sense of injury, he said.

“Even what I just said, which sounds very persuasive, still doesn’t answer the fact of, all right, how do we prevent kids from being killed today?” he said.

“But the problem is that if you are dug in on that, well, the other side is dug in remembering the videos that Hamas took or what they did on the 7th, and they’re dug in, too, which means we will not stop those kids from dying.”

Where would the world be without Obama's moral wisdom?
