Former President Barack Obama received pushback this week when condemned attempts to remove sexually explicit books from school libraries.

According to The Blaze, Obama objected to "some of the books that shaped my life" getting "challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives."

Twitter users post screenshots from challenged books

Conservative Twitter users responded by posting images from some of the books that have been targeted, including "Gender Queer," which features graphic depictions of gay sex.

One of them was film director Robby Starbuck, who remarked, "If you’ll sit down and read Gender Queer, then defend making it available to kids, I’ll do you the favor of running ads all over the country to let people know."

"You’ll never do it because you know it would disgust normal people that your party wants kids to read it," Starbuck predicted.

Why does Obama want your kids to read porn like this in school?"

Libs of TikTok also spoke up, noting, "For some reason, they never show examples from the books. Why does Obama want your kids to read porn like this in school?"

The parents' rights group Courage Is A Habit took notice as well, tweeting, "Let's be sure to remind everyone what 'book banning' means in this context of what the former President is using."

"We highly doubt him and [Michelle Obama] would have approved this being read to their daughters when they were in middle school," the organization added.

Critics say Democrats want protect porn while silencing opponents

Meanwhile, a Twitter account associated with the Being Libertarian Substack put out a tweet accusing Democrats like Obama of being hypocrites on freedom of speech.

"Funny invoking the 1st Amendment now but not during the past 3 years when the government unprecedentedly censored anyone questioning the government line on COVID," it read.
" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
