Former President Barack Obama is going to lead another big-time fundraiser for President Joe Biden, the Daily Mail reports.  

The reader may remember that Biden, Obama, and former President Bill Clinton hosted a star-studded fundraiser in New York City a little over a month ago.

It appears that this upcoming fundraiser will be a similar deal.

Read on to see why many are considering this a desperate move by Biden and the White House.

Here's what to expect:

According to NBC News, at this particular fundraiser, which is scheduled to take place next month, Biden is not just going to be joined by Obama, but he is also going to be joined by a number of Hollywood celebrities.

"President Joe Biden’s campaign plans to host a major fundraiser in Los Angeles next month with former President Barack Obama and Hollywood superstars George Clooney and Julia Roberts, according to a campaign official," the outlet reports.

NBC goes on to provide more details about the event.

Per the outlet:

The high-profile Biden event, set for mid-June, will feature a contest with Clooney and Roberts run across the campaign’s social media platforms to engage grassroots donors, as well as top celebrities and surrogates, according to details first shared with NBC News. The two Academy Award winners will also lend their names for campaign emails and text messages, in hopes of attracting more contributions.

Biden is hoping to do as well or better than the New York City event, in which he raised about $26 million.

He's so desperate

It is no secret that Biden is facing a major uphill battle in the upcoming presidential election. Not only are all of his numbers down, but all of Trump's numbers are up. Furthermore, Trump is leading Biden, significantly, in some of the most important polls, namely, battleground state polls.

This is why Biden is desperately trying to cling on to any little victory that he could, including this over-the-top fundraiser. But, it is not just Biden who is desperate.

Many have argued that, in one way or another, it is Obama who has essentially been running the country, not Biden - that Biden's first term has been Obama's third. We'll leave it to you to decide whether there is any truth to this.

But, if it is true, then it is likely also true that Obama is desperate for a fourth term, which would help to explain why he is suddenly campaigning so hard for Biden.

The big question is whether it will pay off. Time will tell.
