Former President Donald Trump's youngest son began attending New York University's Stern School of Business last month, with the Daily Mail reporting that he has received both affection and hostility from fellow students.

Yet while Barron Trump may share his famous father's name, one publication recently observed that he bears a striking resemblance to his mother in her early years.

The fact was pointed out in an article published by The Mirror this past weekend, which pointed to photographs that were first publicized by "The Today Show" seven years ago.

Those pictures were taken by Slovenian photographer Stane Jerko when former First Lady Melania Trump was 16 years old.

"It was January 1987 when I went home just before the end of the fashion show," Jerko was quoted as telling "The Today Show" in an email.

"On the stairs of the Festival Hall, I saw a girl that immediately caught my eye. There stood a tall, slender and attractive long-haired girl with distinct eyes," he said of Mrs. Trump, who was then known as Melania Knauss.

The Mirror noted that Barron sports "distinguished brown locks and heavy brows" which stand in sharp contrast with "the light and airy hairstyle" of his father.

The former president acknowledged that his youngest son more closely resembles Mrs. Trump, telling The Palm Beach Post in 2006, "He looks more like Melania. He's like her in temperament. Very calm."

Meanwhile, the former first lady made headlines earlier this month when she announced the release of a new book titled which is simply titled "Melania."

"As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation. I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts," Mrs. Trump explained in a video posted to social media.
