Rep. Omar's GOP opponent calls her 'unfit for office' over her 'warped worldview' and anti-Israel position
Progressive leftist "Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has repeatedly displayed her antisemitic and anti-Israel views over the years, and that is now being used against her by her Republican opponent in November's election.
Dalia Al-Aqidi, an Iraq-born naturalized U.S. citizen, argued that Omar's "warped worldview," in which she appears to stand with radical Islamist terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel, is one of many reasons why the Democratic congresswoman is "unfit for office," Minnesota's Alpha News reported.
The Republican candidate's remarks about her Democratic opponent came at the end of a recent statement celebrating Israel's success in eliminating Hezbollah's longtime leader in Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah.
Omar calls for Israel to be disarmed of U.S. weapons and support
Israel has been at war with Hamas in Gaza since Hamas' coordinated terror attacks of murders and kidnappings in Israel on Oct. 7 last year, and legitimate concerns that the conflict could expand to include Hezbollah in Lebanon -- which has been bombarding Israel with missiles and rocket attacks since the war began -- have seemingly materialized in recent weeks with sharply rising tensions and stepped-up cross-border attacks between the two mortal enemies.
Likely seeking to end another war before it fully starts, Israel launched an incredible series of coordinated and unexpected targeted attacks in Lebanon that have essentially decimated and decapitated Hezbollah by taking out many of its fighters and most of its senior leaders, including Nasrallah.
Amid Israel's growing offensive against Hezbollah and its continued operations against Hamas, but before Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Rep. Omar issued a statement that said, "I condemn the attacks by the Israeli military in Lebanon. It is imperative we use every single tool to de-escalate tensions."
"Just as President Biden stated, a 'full-scale war is not in anyone’s interest,'" she continued. "A full-scale war would have catastrophic implications for everyone, especially for Lebanese and Israeli civilians who would bear the brunt of this war and dramatically increase the risk of regional conflict involving the United States."
"If we are serious about preventing the escalation of this conflict, we must use our leverage to cut off military aid to stop the violence both in Lebanon and Gaza. We cannot continue to stand idly by while innocent civilians are being bombarded with our tax dollars," Omar added in the overtly anti-Israel statement that called for the besieged Jewish nation to be stripped of U.S. military aid.
Omar's GOP opponent praises Israeli strike to eliminate Nasrallah
In response a few days later, after Nasrallah was killed, GOP candidate Al-Aqidi issued a press release and said, "I join the many Americans, Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, and Iranians in welcoming the news of Hassan Nasrallah’s elimination by Israel. As the Secretary-General of the U.S.-designated terrorist group, Hezbollah, Nasrallah has most recently been responsible for the unprovoked launching of some 9,000 rockets, missiles, and drones from Lebanon into Israeli civilian centers since October 8, 2023 -- just a day after the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza carried out an unparalleled terrorist massacre in Israel."
"Hezbollah’s actions were a clear declaration of war, on behalf of Iran, against our ally Israel. Our Israeli allies have every right to defend themselves against terrorist threats by both state and non-state actors," she continued. "Israel’s historic achievements against Hezbollah in the past two weeks stand in stark contrast to the Biden-Harris administration’s catastrophic policy of appeasement."
Al-Aqidi, a journalist for more than three decades, then provided a summary of how Nasrallah and Hezbollah were "responsible for killing thousands
of Americans, Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi, and Israeli civilians over a four-decade reign of terror."
Omar's "warped worldview" and anti-Israel stance render her "unfit for office"
At the end of her press release, Al-Aqidi said, "The world is a better place without Nasrallah in it. A wider, regional peace is more likely in the future without terrorist dead-enders able to sabotage efforts toward regional stability, peace, and prosperity."
"Ilhan Omar’s only statement on Hezbollah and Israel came on September 24th, when she declared the only way to prevent an escalation of the conflict is to cut off military aid to Israel 'to stop the violence both in Lebanon and Gaza,'" she continued.
"In Ilhan’s warped worldview, escalation only occurs when Israel responds, not when Hezbollah launches 9,000 missiles at Israel for 11 months," Al-Aqidi added. "Her repeated inability to differentiate good from evil, and ally from adversary, is yet another reason she is unfit for office."
