Outrage grows over Hunter Biden's plea bargain
Many Republicans have alleged in recent years that the justice system has targeted them while giving Democrats a pass.
Those allegations grew louder this week after Hunter Biden was given a plea bargain allowing him to avoid jail time for an illegal gun purchase and failing to pay taxes.
DOJ accused of turning a blind eye to the Biden family
The Washington Examiner noted that some high-profile conservatives vented their frustration on social media, including Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
She accused the "weaponized DOJ" of failing to investigate evidence that President Joe Biden and his son collected "bribes from Ukrainian oligarchs" while "raking in tens of millions of dollars from foreign countries."
Hunter Biden pleading guilty to a gun charge and misdemeanor tax charges with no jail time is a stunt to make him look like he is just cooperating with the DOJ.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) spoke up as well, drawing a contrast between Hunter Biden's sweetheart deal and the harsh treatment given to gun dealers for relatively minor infractions.

GOP senator questions whether DOJ rules permit Biden's plea agreement
Lawrence G. Keane serves as NSSF’s senior vice president, and he said, "Under this administration’s 'zero tolerance' policy, licensed firearm retailers have had their lives destroyed for paperwork mistakes far less egregious than buying a gun when you are a crack addict."
"They are not serious about reducing gun violence, only scoring cheap political points," he continued, adding, "It is worth noting this announcement came today, after President Biden’s appearance in Hartford last Friday to call for gun control."
Meanwhile, Utah Sen. Mike Lee questioned whether or not Hunter Biden's plea agreement is even permitted under Department of Justice rules.

Bill Barr calls on FBI to release Biden document
Meanwhile, former Attorney General Bill Barr told Fox News on Tuesday that Hunter Biden's deal increases pressure on the FBI to release a document that is purported to detail corruption by the Biden family.
"I think AG Garland should move quickly with concrete steps to address it," Barr said, pointing to "ire over a double standard."
"The public needs to be assured that the two pending investigations about the Bidens – the one about mishandling of classified material and the broader one in Delaware – are being pursued with the same rigor as the case against Trump," he added.
