Report: Patel fired FBI agent trainee over prior display of a LGBTQ pride flag in work area

FBI Director Kash Patel has made it abundantly clear that, per President Donald Trump's orders, there will be no tolerance from now on for the radical left's "woke" ideology in the Bureau.

In one recent example, Patel reportedly fired an FBI agent trainee this week after it was discovered that they had previously featured an LGBTQ pride flag on their work desk, according to the Daily Mail.

The director deemed that sort of overt ideological expression to be an "inappropriate display of political signage" that, while considered innocuous under the previous administration, was no longer acceptable under the current president's leadership.

"Exercised poor judgment with an inappropriate display"

MSNBC reported that it obtained a copy of a letter sent by FBI Director Patel on October 1 to an unnamed FBI agent trainee at the Bureau's academy in Quantico, Virginia, to inform them that they'd been fired.

The letter, which cited President Trump's Article II authority in the U.S. Constitution to terminate the employment of federal career personnel, stated, "You are being summarily dismissed from your position as a New Agent Trainee at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and removed from the federal service."

As for the reason why, Patel noted, "After reviewing the facts and circumstances and considering your probationary status, I have determined that you exercised poor judgment with an inappropriate display of political signage in your work area during your previous assignment in the Los Angeles Field Office."

The outlet reached out to both the FBI and the fired trainee for comment, but did not receive a timely response from either.

It was further reported, per MSNBC's sources, that word of the firing quickly spread throughout the FBI, particularly the Bureau's Washington Field Office, and prompted some agents, trainees, and civilian employees to begin scouring their work areas and social media accounts to get rid of anything that may run afoul of the administration's new rules on what are and aren't acceptable displays of political ideology.

A former DEI program coordinator

CNN, which was the first media outlet to report on the termination of the agent in training, noted that the individual had previously worked for many years in the FBI as a civilian employee and had received multiple awards under the prior administration for their service.

Before becoming a new agent in training at the FBI Academy, the individual had been a field office diversity program coordinator in Los Angeles, California, which, regardless of the LGBTQ pride flag display, may have already placed them on track to be fired.

On President Trump's first day in office, he issued an executive order that called for an end to all "discriminatory" practices and programs involving "diversity, equity, and inclusion," or DEI, throughout the federal government.

Numerous firings for ideological and partisan activities

CNN further reported that the firing of the FBI trainee by Patel for the prior display of an LGBTQ pride flag is just the latest example of terminations based, at least in part, on ideological or partisan activities of Bureau employees.

Less than a week earlier, Patel had fired more than a dozen FBI agents who'd been photographed kneeling in solidarity with protesters during the anti-cop protests and riots that swept the nation during the summer of 2020 following the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

Patel has also fired numerous agents and senior officials who were involved in the multiple highly partisan investigations and arrests of President Trump and his supporters over the past several years.
