"Nobody should think it is funny that an 82-year-old man got attacked in his home, and yet a sitting governor and a wanna-be governor and members of Congress were laughing about it," she continued.
Later, the younger Pelosi attempted to link her father's beating with her mother's high-profile role as Speaker of the House.
"I don’t think it’s OK for an 82-year-old man to be attacked in his home in the middle of the night because of whatever his wife does for work," Pelosi declared.
Pelosi is not alone in suggesting that the attack on her father was politically motivated, as many other Democrats have cast blame for the incident on Republican rhetoric.
Alleged attacker showed support for left-wing causes
During an interview with CBS News, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom tied the violence to Fox News host Jesse Waters.
"I have seen the dehumanization of Nancy Pelosi. I don’t think anyone’s been dehumanized like her consistently. I mean, I watched this one guy, it was Jesse Watters or something on Fox News, what he’s been saying about Paul Pelosi the last six months, mocking him consistently," Newsom said.
"Don’t tell me that’s not aiding and abetting this. Of course, it is," he insisted. "It’s sowing the seeds that create a culture and a climate like this."
Sowing seeds
"They’re sowing the seeds. They’re creating a culture and climate like this. I mean, look online," Newsom went on to declare.
"Look at the sewage that is online that they amplify on these networks and in social media to dehumanize people like Nancy Pelosi and other political leaders," he added.
However, Fox News host Tucker Carlson noted on his show how far from being a registered Republican, Paul Pelosi's alleged attacker is an illegal immigrant who "lives in a hippie school bus in Berkeley with a BLM banner and a pride flag out front."
If you guessed, this is obviously a textbook case of homegrown right-wing extremism, well, then, obviously, you've been watching a lot of cable news today," Carlson remarked.
