Pence says he 'cannot defend' Trump allegations, but loses sight of bigger picture

Former Vice President Mike Pence said on Wednesday that he "cannot defend what is alleged" against former President Donald Trump, but fails to see larger wrongs going on in the U.S. right now that overshadow what Trump allegedly did.

Pence said Wednesday on CNBC's "Squawk Box" that the charges against Trump were "serious" and that even the possibility that the classified documents Trump had "could have fallen into the wrong hands" is a threat to national security that puts American military members "at risk."

"No one is above the law," Pence said.

 Pence has lost the plot

Pence has shown himself to be a principled man, but he's lost sight of the bigger picture and the larger ways his principles are being violated every single day.

Not the Bee pointed out that the country is now acting in many ways like a banana republic, with a corrupt Justice Department picking and choosing which laws to enforce in order to punish their political enemies and the FBI similarly deciding whom to investigate based on political agendas.

When a pervasive sense of fairness up and departs from the country as it seems to have done over the last two decades or so, all we are left with is the desire to punish our enemies and those we think are evil.

We no longer have a functioning democracy, and Pence wants to worry about Trump taking documents out of the White House in the same exact way other presidents and top officials have done, including, apparently, himself.

Pence has lost the plot, and his finger is not on the pulse of what's actually happening in America.

Can he fix anything?

What's a bigger crime: having classified documents and showing them to one or two people who don't have clearance, or taking a multi-million dollar bribe from a Ukrainian oligarch in exchange for favorable policies?

What's a bigger crime: trying to hide that you have the documents or getting the Justice Department and FBI to take down your biggest political opponent on the exact day the evidence of your own wrongdoing comes out?

Pence's outrage at Trump's alleged crimes is largely because he wants to be the GOP presidential frontrunner instead of Trump, and thinks his superior principles would make him a better leader.

But let's face it: out of the two, Trump is far better equipped to navigate the shark-infested waters of Washington.

Pence says he's going to fix the DOJ, but he has no idea what he's dealing with. The left will eat him alive.
