Pentagon posts play on Sydney Sweeney ad depicting Sec. Hegseth
It's been a few weeks since Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been in the headlines, but that changed in the past few days after he jumped on board the Sydney Sweeney phenomenon making its way through the conservative world.
According to The Hill, in the wake of President Donald Trump praising Sweeney for her non-woke ad for American Eagle, Hegseth's Pentagon published a post on the agency's official X account doing a similar ad for the defense secretary.
The Pentagon published a post that read “@secdef has great jeans," referencing the "great jeans" ad that Sweeney was featured in this month that has sparked praise from Republicans and backlash from the woke left.
It was recently revealed that Sweeney is a registered Republican, which immediately gained favor with President Trump.
What's going on?
The Pentagon's X post drew praise from MAGA circles and, not surprisingly, made plenty of woke liberals very upset -- the same ones who believe the Sweeney ad for American Eagle had racist undertones.

The Hill noted:
The ad campaign featuring Sweeney has resulted in backlash over what some have deemed racist undertones. A majority of the criticism has surrounded the campaign’s title: “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” riffing on “good genes.”
"Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color," Sweeney said in the ad, sparking liberal rage.
The president heaped praise on Sweeney in a Truth Social post.
“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves.’ Go get ‘em Sydney!” he wrote.
Social media acts
Users across social media had plenty to say about the Pentagon's post regarding Hegseth's play on the ad.
"We don't deserve posts this good. But I'm glad we are getting them," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "I would never have imagined that an administration would have this great a sense of humor.
Anyone else having fun out there?"
American Eagle's stock soared in the wake of the president's approval of the ad, and the ensuing support from his massive MAGA base. Perhaps other companies should take note. Woke is dead.
